Story

MARK CHARLES MATHER

“Charlie”

14 November 1957 – 20 September 2012

Charlie died at St. George’s, Tooting from cancer, which he fought with great dignity and stoicism. He was at peace. Charlie savoured every moment of his life which he lived proudly and well.

A charming, deeply thoughtful and well-read man with strongly held views; expressed with intelligence and wit. Debonair and fun, a generous host and cook who loved welcoming family and friends to his home.

Charlie was a passionate motoring and racing enthusiast who revelled in his eclectic tastes, his love of extrovert dancing and all things Italian.

He is remembered with love, joy and gratitude for his many kindnesses and thoughtful actions.

Deeply missed and beloved Husband of Anita, much loved Son of Harry and Joy, Brother of Neal and David, cherished Uncle and Friend.

“This above all, to thine own self be true”

The hospital really helped us throughout Charlie's treatment, and he had hoped to volunteer when he felt better, this is my way of honouring his wish, raising money to help the hospital help others.
