Jenny Burvill (left), Reception Supervisor, Mona Jorgensen, Deputy Manager, and Sarah Batchelor , Home Visit Co-ordinator, are planning a sky dive in the summer to raise money for a dog agility area where the more boisterous of our four-legged friends, and those unfortunate enough to be long-stay residents, can run off their excess energy and enjoy themselves out of their kennels in a specially-landscaped area featuring a water splash, tunnels and jumps.

It is a pet (sorry!) project of the Friends of Southridge this year—plans have already been submitted and a decision is eagerly awaited.

Are the girls nervous about jumping out of a plane thousands of feet up? “Oh yes” say Jenny and Mona. “Nope,” says a relaxed Sarah.

Jenny hates flying, Sarah’s not bothered...while Mona says: “I’m not scared of flying but I usually do it with the doors shut.!”

She went on:”It is worrying how quickly you can get involved in something you may live to regret. When we first agreed to do it I thought it sounded like fun. Now I am just filled with fear...but now I am committed I will do my best to raise as much money as possible to help pay for the new dog play area.”

Jenny and Sarah , however, were fearless: “It’s good to do things that scare you,” says Jenny. “Makes you feel alive.”

“This has been on my list of things to do before I die. Wish granted!” says Sarah, adding:” My family and friends say I must be barmy!”
