Story
Hello folks!
As you all know, I have been away travelling a couple of times this year and collected a few fairly magnificent items of clothing along the way (please check out the photos for a few examples). I assumed, even when buying them, that most would never be worn again except as pyjamas.
The time has perhaps come for them to see sunlight once more. If I can raise over £100 in one week then I promise to wear all of my hippiest clothes for the following week. For those of you in London, that means you will see me in lectures, pubs and on transport wearing clothes that quite frankly embarrass me in public. For those outside London, I promise I will post photos on here and facebook everyday picturing me in my outfit, out and about in London. If you wish to add to my stock of ridiculous hippy clothing, perhaps from your own travels, I promise to wear those too - hats are particularly welcome.
To sweeten the deal and encourage you to bid high, I will (semi-permanently) dye my hair according to the colour wishes of the highest donor. Only one person can be the highest bidder but you can bid multiple times (and your bids will be added together) in order to win. And the winner does have the option of not changing my hair colour at all...
So - I must raise £100 by midnight, Wednesday 24th October otherwise no looking like an idiot! And no crazy hair dye!
Finally, you might be asking why am I so willing to give up my dignity? The reason is that this year I am volunteering as campus rep for the Mike Campbell Foundation, a charity that is seeking the restoration of the rule of law in Zimbabwe. They are addressing the awful human rights atrocities being carried out by the Zimbabwean government both through the legal system and on a more practical level, offering support for those displaced and in poverty as a result of the violence and turmoil the country has suffered in recent years. It's a worthy cause and one very close to my own heart as both a law student and former resident of Zimbabwe.
So please give whatever you can. You will be helping the fight for justice in Zimbabwe and getting a good laugh at me dressed like a tie-dyed idiot in the grey and rainy streets of London!
And the standard spiel:
