Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So yet another sign I'm having a midlife crisis! On Sunday the 22nd April 2018 I will be running London Marathon. 26.2 gruelling miles. I have pledged to raise £2,000- for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation (and my place depends on it) the only charity who provides support and services to children, young people and their families affected by childhood liver disease.
As many of you will know, our beautiful daughter Eni (Enola) was born with a rare condition called Biliary Atresia. This is a rare condition only affecting around 45-50 children born a year in the U.K. Approximately 70% of those affected by Biliary Atresia will have to receive a liver transplant. Eni was very lucky that her condition was picked up very early. This enabled the Kasi surgery she had to be undertaken at just 17 days old. To this date the surgery has been very successful for Eni allowing bilirubin to safely flow from her liver. Despite this, Eni has developed a secondary condition called portal hypertension often associated with serious alcohol misuse. Her liver now has significant scarring (cirrhosis) and both lobes of the liver are affected by atrophy (the left lobe more so than the right). Despite taking everyday in her stride without a care in the world, we know that she will have to endure more medical procedures in the future. She will almost certainly require a liver transplant.
Please, please, please help me raise as much as I can for a truly amazing charity.
All my love,
Charlie xx
