On 23rd December I am walking the 65 odd km from London to Reading, or in other words walking home for Christmas. I am undertaking this with my trusty pal Alex, and we will probably hate each other by the end of it. We'll start our journey in the dark hours of the morning, and will hopefully reach home in the dark hours of the evening.
On top of that, in March I will be jumping on my bike and cycling approx. 100 miles with 2 of my colleagues. Jacques and I will be pedalling away on turbo trainers in the cafe of DWP, whilst Deji will be taking on the same task up in Newcastle. It will not be pleasant, with a view of concrete and passing colleagues, and stuffy air, rather than rolling countryside and fresh breezes!
As well as a means of getting home for festivities, and providing a sorry sight for DWP employees, I am ultimately doing this to gain support (I hope), create awareness, and fundraise for AFRIL. I volunteer for this fantastic charity by working as a teaching assistant at the Rainbow Club, their supplementary Saturday school. They help to develop childrens' skills, improve social integration, build confidence enhance their regular education. AFRIL also run advice clinics, give out emergency supplies, run ESOL classes, and provide all round support to adults and families. Through this they help to advance education, relieve poverty and isolation, and improve social integration for one of the most vulnerable and deprived local authority areas in England.
Please help me to support these wonderful people!

I am walking and cycling further than I'd like for Action for Refugees in Lewisham because they provide fantastic support to those in need.
