I met Donna online through a banter group where everyone was discussing the woman who had a public funded trip to Disney.  She just started talking about her year, she gave birth to preemie twins (Thomas and Matthew) and Thomas passed away around 8 months old and she's suffered with mental health issues since, she wasn't asking for anything and was just so humble so I asked if I could anything to help. 

 She told me about the charity that she supports, Tiny Lives at Newcastle hospital and how they saved Matthews life basically and enabled her to spend more time with Thomas then she thought she would.  So I went on to find out how I could help, the Great North Run popped up so I applied.

I am so pleased to be able to give something back and support such an amazingly courageous woman and her family, someone who hasn't asked for anyone to help her and is supporting her family through some of the toughest times.

As a lot of you know I have suffered with my health also since being born at 28 weeks in 1985.  After spending the first 10 months of my life in hospital, numerous operations, various complications that still effect me now and only having the capacity of one lung means this will be challenge but one that I am more then determined to succeed at.

I have never run anything close to this length before and I am definitely nervous which is why this is such a great challenge for me and a great opportunity to fundraise for such a worthy charity; Tiny Lives.  In my training I will be running 69 times (not including the Great North Run itself) which will bring it to 70 runs.

The Tiny Lives Trust is a registered charity that helps to care for premature and sick newborn babies, their mothers and families in the Special Care Baby Unit of the Newcastle Neonatal Service based in Ward 35 of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.  The fund aims to provide the highest quality of care on an ongoing basis and needs to raise at least £250,000 every year to support a range of facilities, staff, and equipment:
