Ironman 70.3 Weymouth · 18 September 2022

We promote access to historic cars for the next generation. We support apprenticeships, provide vehicles, and stage amazing events to ensure that historic motoring lives on into the future. We believe our old car world provides enjoyment, adventure and community.

Story

Hello! I'm Charlotte and I've spent a large chunk of this year #tryingtotri. I joined Bicester Motion as PR and Communications Manager around a year ago following being a Covid workplace casualty... it was during this time, when I was very low, that I began my training for my first sprint distance triathlon at Blenheim Palace - and I absolutely loved it! So much so, I decided to enter a half Ironman with the view to raising money for a good cause.

It's rather a lot of exercise in one day:

1.9 km swim

90 km bike ride

21 km run (that's a half marathon!) - the grand total of 70.3 miles!

Why raise money for StarterMotor?

Having initially spent some time watching just some of the projects that the StarterMotor team put on - from engaging with the local community to getting young people out and about in old cars (this not so young person included!) It really made me think about completing an event for charity.

Plus, working at Bicester Motion - where all things that fly, drive, two-wheels, four-legs... are celebrated on a daily basis, it feels like a natural fit.

This event will have taken me a whole year of training, including completing 2 slightly shorter Olympic distance events (in the Cotswolds and Windsor respectively) to get to this point.

Your support is much appreciated!
