We provide free and local emotional support to help people affected by cancer.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Each year I take on different challenges to raise much-needed funds for charities. This year, I want to help and support Wessex Cancer Trust by riding seven challenging sportives around Wales and a little further afield.

Before I take on the seven rides, I'm also going to be a #Ride25 rider as part of the Tacx challenge. The Tacx Challenge is an 18,000 miles virtual cycle around the world that's being ridden by Chris Daniels in memory of his wife who sadly lost her battle with cancer recently. This virtual ride has not been done previously so if its completed it will be a first and a record. Each day of the challenge, Chris is supported by #Ride25 riders who will be cycling 25mile sections of the challenge with him. My support ride will be on on the Easter Bank Holiday Monday Afternoon at the Brewers Fayre, Abergavenny.

Why the Wessex Cancer Trust you may ask?

Wessex Cancer Trust is helping my good friend Lisa who I became friends through the world of pixel cheese, complicated traps and pretend mice - also known as the HitGrab online game Mousehunt. Lisa is in the process of having Chemo and Radiotherapy treatment after recent surgery. Lisa lives on the Isle of Wight, and while she's lucky in being able to receive her chemotherapy on the Island, she's facing frequent costly trips to the mainland (Southampton General Hospital) for her Radiotherapy treatment. There are no radiotherapy facilities on the Isle of Wight.

Wessex Cancer Trust will be providing a chaperone service for Lisa when she needs it; They'll collect her from the ferry terminal and drop her at the door of the treatment centre at the hospital, and also take her back to the ferry terminal at the end of each treatment session completely free of charge. As you can imagine, this helps with the financial burden of having to travel so far for necessary treatment, but also with the stress and worry of the journey logistics too.

To help raise funds for Lisas chosen charity I will be riding in the following events:

Saturday 17th March 2018: BREWIN DOLPHIN WYE TOUR (54 hilly miles) *Event postponed due to snow- awaiting new date.

Monday 2nd April 2018: Tacx Challenge - Abergavenny (25 virtual Miles)

Sunday 15th April 2018: Tour de Gwent Platinum ride (94 challenging miles)

Sunday 22nd April 2018: Herio Sportive (84 miles)

Saturday 19th May 2018: Tour de Pembs (81 extremely tough miles)

Saturday 23rd June 2018: Monmouthshire Iron Mountain (70mile route - big hills)

Sunday 1st July 2018: Bike Bath (80miles - yes you've guessed it with hills)

Sunday 8th July 2018: The Welsh Velothon (87miles with two of the 100 greatest cycle climbs thrown in for fun)

So please, even if its just a few pounds that you can spare, can you donate them to Wessex Cancer Trust, as they're doing a fantastic job supporting the people of the south coast and the Isle of Wight when they need it most.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
