Walk for Endo · 1 July 2021 to 31 August 2021 ·
I have decided to raise money for this very important charity as I suffer from this disease. It took 8 years to get a diagnosis after going backward and forwards to the doctors with them just saying it is IBS it is normal it’s just a bad period, bloating is normal, heavy periods is normal take paracetamol and go on the pill. After doubling up in pain at school and work I knew something wasn’t quite right. So i saw a gynaecologist and there words were well we could do a laparoscopy but we may not find anything. I was willing to take a chance to get an answer for the pain. I was quite poorly with my first laparoscopy in 2016 and when I woke up I was so relieved to hear the words ‘ yes, you have endometriosis!’ I finally knew that it wasn’t in my mind and yes I was suffering with pain for a reason. I had ablation surgery and felt like a giant balloon for a few weeks. 4 years later the pain had got worse so I had another laparoscopy in January 2020, the pain had got worse due to the adhesions and scarring which needed to be cut along with some endometriosis that needed to be shaved. However when I woke up from the general anaesthetic the consultant said the endometriosis had grown on the bowel and I would need another operation. Well Covid hit and I’m still waiting for my operation that was told it will be July/ august time. However now it is October 25th! Another waiting games... Although I am in pain most days I still continue to keep a smile on my face :)
I hope that there will be a cure and that more research is done so women do not have to go through what I have gone through.
I am going to go on walks in the countryside, beaches and places with lovely nature and will be taking photos along the way :) this has changed a little since I first signed up and I will now be doing 8km a day at the gym and when I’m off shifts I will be going to lovely places with my fundraising t shirt on :)
Please help me in raising money for such an important charity!!!
