Story
10 Years ago I was working flat out, travelling the world and settling into married life. 5 years ago I was juggling 2 small children and still working myself to the bone as if nothing had changed! 2 years ago I decided it was time to get off the treadmill and focus on cherishing family life. Despite the fact that running the home and ferrying the children between school and a myriad activities feels more like a full time job than I had 10 years ago, (and with less exotic locations), my darling husband decided I didn't have enough to occupy my time so signed me up to do Trailwalker! This is no small stroll over the hills and dales...it’s a double marathon, (walking of course), 100K/62 miles back to back in one go, up and down the beautiful South Downs. Even though he’s still in trouble for thinking that life is a never ending set of coffee mornings and pilates classes, the training has been a wonderful challenge taking in our green and pleasant land, despite me having more than my fair share of bruised toes and blisters!
However I'm not doing this for nothing...soooooo I've been jam making, baking, sewing on Cubs and Rainbows badges to raise funds and now I am turning to you my friends for your support by sponsoring me on this mammoth adventure. I would be grateful for whatever you can spare, even the smallest amount will be greatly appreciated, however if you fancy giving me a large amount that would be even better!
Oxfam works with others to overcome poverty, injustice and suffering around the world. They are there in a crisis when disaster strikes, they are there for the long haul building fair livelihoods, advancing women's rights and they are campaigners making sure the voices of the world's poorest people are heard loud and clear.
I only have to take 125,000 steps without stopping in under 30 hours but by doing so I can in some small way help alleviate others from suffering, all you have to do is give generously, (if you don’t I’ll post my toenails to you after they fall off!)
I’m counting on your support as we “Gin and Bear it” through the day and night towards the finish line!
