Indonesia Tsunami Appeal
Campaign by Save the Children (RCN England and Wales (213890) Scotland (SC039570))
A tsunami was triggered by a powerful earthquake in Sulawesi, Indonesia, at the end of September, leaving a trail of destruction.

Story

Many of you will know that I am not a runner, and couldn't even contemplate running 1km a couple months ago! I set myself the challenge of reaching 10km and signed up to my first race on the 20th of October. With 1 week to go and the Indonesia appeal on the news, I thought I would make my run more meaningful. As a family we lived in Indonesia for 5 years, the children were always full of smiles no matter what the situation. Please help me raise some money to help the children affected after the tsunami.

More information on what happened:

A devastating tsunami with waves up to six metres high has been triggered by a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Over 2,000 people have been reported dead and sadly, the death toll is likely to rise. Those who have survived have seen their lives ripped apart.

200,000 people need urgent humanitarian assistance right now - a quarter of them are children.

Over 10,000 people are severely injured. With over 67,000 homes damaged and 80,000 people displaced, many families are sleeping in makeshift shelters or in the street, in desperate need of food, water and medical care.

In the wake of this terrible tragedy, the need for immediate physical and emotional support for children is critical.

Please spare whatever you can to support Save the Children's Indonesia Tsunami Appeal. Together we can help children rebuild their lives, while protecting their rights and futures.
