Story
On the 1st January I will run 1km, on the 2nd 2km and so on until I reach 31km on the 31st January. This is a whopping 496km (or 308.2 miles). Many of my longer run days will be split as I have a family and am self employed as a personal trainer so work evenings also. My normal distance per week is approx. 20miles, so although I'm a seasoned runner, this is a major challenge for me and if I'm honest its terrifying! However, I intend to take each day as it comes, not let it overwhelm me and focus on the money being raised.
Why did I choose to do such a mad challenge? I needed a new goal for running, my pace and distance has dwindled and i've lost my mojo! Doing this for a children's charity will give me focus to achieve my goal and raise money for an amazing cause. I also hope it will inspire others to do something that they may feel overwhelming, but is achievable with the right mindset, focus and support.
The 496km challenge is inspired by #seanconwayadventure.
If anyone wants to join me in any part of my journey on foot, bicycle, skateboard or other...please let me know!
Donations to The Pied Piper Appeal, in order to spur m on and raise money for a worthwhile cause would be much appreciated, no matter how small, even a penny per km! Thank you!
The Pied Piper Appeal makes a difference to sick and disabled children in Gloucestershire in four main ways:- Funding the Children's Centre at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and other county hospitals- Supporting SEND Schools with equipment and resources- Sending children with life-limiting illnesses and their families on memory making Wish Holidays- Improving children's experiences with Mental Health Facilities in the county.
