I have decided to take part in the London marathon... (Partly because I was drunk and emotional when I signed up) but mainly because cancer has actually had a huge impact on my life and the battle continues for so many others.

In two decades I've known 6 people that I can think of who have suffered from cancer. Only one has survived.

Many people donate to helping the movement of science which I value. However when the worst happens, you need people there. For advice, empathy or quite simply a hug.

Macmillan cancer support actually had nothing to do with my family's experiences with cancer, but I wish they had. They are there to educate sufferers and their families; provide support to carers and generally be there for those who need them. And people do.

So... The marathon. Yes I am going to be obsessed about it for the next 7 months and if I see you regularly I probably won't stop talking about it until that point. For your patience I thank you :)

The furthest I have ever run, ever, is 10K and that hurt. Do this will be interesting. (If anyone's interested in a running buddy now would be the time!).

I need to raise £3500. That's 700 people donating a fiver. That's 1750 people giving me £2. I don't know that many people....

The point is I understand budgeting, I understand laziness and the absolute EFFORT of typing out your card details. But please do donate anything you can. For the sake of everyone I have loved and lost, for anyone you've ever loved and lost, for all those people who are yet to go through that indescribable pain, and for all those people that came out the other side :)

Thanks xx
