Due to medical reasons the warrior dash has been called off... Thanks for everyone who donated, the money is now going towards a sponsored walk that my beautiful four year old daughter will be doing... So please sponsor Kia and family to walk from sandbanks to bournemouth beach on Saturday 18th August :)
Late in 2011 my son was born. At just a week old he contracted a urine infection and this quickly developed into e. coli septicemia which almost took his life. After taking a few weeks to recover he then developed e. coli again. Sadly we still have no explanation as to how this happens, and he is currently under going treatment for urinary reflux.
Shockingly, the only symptoms he displayed were being drowsy with cold hands and slightly mottled skin. He did not have a rash like would be expected with septicemia, but it still could have taken his life had we not trusted our instincts and had him seen. The money that I raise will be donated to the meningitis and septicemia research foundation, and I hope it will be used to raise awareness across the NHS of the other symptoms of septicemia, which kills over 37,000 in the UK every year; more than breast, bowel and prostate cancers combined.
