Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In the UK, we lose 1 man to prostate cancer every 45minutes
and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Earlier this year my grandad found out he had
it after a routine blood test where he had to be asked for his permission to
test for prostate cancer.
  He of course
gave his permission and thankfully it was caught earlier enough to be
treated.
He now has the all clear.  I was shocked that he had to be asked his
permission and that the test wasn’t just done and I feel that is a bit of a
reflection of the attitude towards men’s health.
As men, we are pretty bad at going to the
doctor’s, after all it’s only a flesh wound right? However that mind-set needs
to change and Prostate Cancer UK are doing some fantastic work to support the wellbeing
of men, which is why I have decided to support them.
The work they do had a part to play in keeping
my grandad alive.

On May 2nd 2020 I will be completing the Isle of
Wight challenge, a 66 mile walk around the perimeter of the island.
To kick start my training for this I have
also set myself a little mini challenge in November to do a minimum 110 floors
every day on a stair machine at the gym.

To put that in context, the Empire State Building only has 102.  Within that challenge I will also do 163
floors every Thursday as quickly as I can as that is the amount of floors the
tallest building in the world has, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
I have done 110 floors in 17 minutes and 8
seconds, so I will be pushing to do the equivalent of the Burj Khalifa in maybe
25 minutes.
I have a few other little
things planned between now and May but I will reveal those nearer the time.
