Story
Thank you for visiting Charnock’s Official Just Giving page, where we are collating all our fundraising efforts
Having unfortunately been postponed from 2020, we are rescheduled and back on track for Summer 2021.
Bear-y exciting news, Charnock Hall Primary Academy have been one of the small selection schools to take part in an amazing ‘Bears of Sheffield’(BoS) fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Sheffield Children’s Hospital has been and continues to be an important part of many of our children’s lives and therefore we thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the community.
Remember the elephant sculptures from the 2016 Herd of Sheffield? The sculpture trail is back for another year as bears are set to take to the streets of Sheffield in 2020. Charnock Hall are set to receive a bear sculpture to decorate, be placed on the Sheffield bear trail and returned to us in the Autumn to keep. In return we have pledged to raise at least £1000 for the charity.
The Herd of Sheffield raised over £610,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and we hope to help them raise even more this year through the BoS. All funds raised through the BoS will help to transform the Cancer and Leukaemia Ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The ward treats children from babies through to 19 year olds from South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and as far south as Northampton. The transformed ward would create a new home from home for families with space, privacy and natural light to make hospital stays and isolation a place of sanctuary and calm.
£750 is lot of money and a big ask, but it is a tiny amount compared to the overall amount needed to build the new Cancer and Leukaemia ward. Unfortunately, the ward is having to rely heavily on charitable donations. This ward helps to saves lives every day, yet its facilities are out-dated. Children and parents often have to stay there for months on end and the lack of facilities and cramped space just adds to an already awful time.
We will be holding a Bear Day on the ..... Where critical worker children at school and kids at home will....
There will be a Virtual Cinema on... where whole families will enjoy an uninterrupted film together complete with snacks and popcorn. We will ask money that would usually be spent on cinema tickets and snacks to be donated to the Bear Fund.
Our brilliant children can join in the fundraising efforts too. They will be challenged to raise funds by doing their own sponsored event (socially distant and law-abiding of course!). This could be anything from a sponsored read, stepathon (10,000 steps?) or walk. Those who manage to raise over £60 will receive a special prize and certificate.
If you could spare some spare change and get behind Charnock by supporting an amazing charity, we would be really appreciative.
Thank you, so much!!
