Story
4th May 2023
I’m taking part in the Newcastle Fight Night!
It’s for a bit of fun, a challenge, representing Newcastle Uni and the Uni Hockey team, but specifically for Lu.
Lulu passed away on New Years Day 2023. At the age of 15 Lu was originally diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer. After treatment Lu lived 'cancer free' for 2 years, but at the age of 19 she was told the cancer had returned. Lu made sure she lived those last months like no other, pushing limits and showing us she wasn’t going to be stopped just yet. She was and always will be an inspiration, the way she didn’t give up, never letting the bad days stop her determination.
I have NEVER boxed before, so this is completely from scratch. Lu would be laughing at the thought of me taking part in a boxing match, but she’d also be the loudest in my corner! Lu wanted to take part in Fight Night herself, but wasn’t able to fit it in with all the other crazy things she did. So this fight is in honour of Lulu Blundell!
If you can, please show some love and support , the encouragements definitely needed to get out there! 4th May, The Fed (Gateshead) @6:30pm. Tickets are £35 per person. Send the money via PayPal to robclarkson1@hotmail.com, when sending it leave a comment listing how many tickets, the date I’m fighting (04/05/23), and mention you’re supporters of ‘Charlotte Westmoreland-Smith’. Then screenshot and send my way so I can confirm with the event lead.
Part of this challenge includes raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust, the fab charity who supported Lu and her family through some of the hardest of days. Lu raised huge amounts of money, even in those last few months. So please donate and spread the word about the fight and this charity. I have created a just giving page, it all makes a huge difference.
Thank you,
Char x
Let’s do this in memory of our Lu, and the beautiful person she always will be with her amazing, courageous spirit.
We miss you Lu <3
