Hi Folks,
bit late getting round to this, just saying thanks for all your donations and help in all that you have done.
We have managed to raise about £23,000 in total. £12461.30 from online donations, £4187.00 from cheques offline, £3055.00 from ceilidh, and £2671.96 from gift aid help, and approximately £600.00 still to come in. BIG CONGRATS AND THANKS TO EVERYONE.
I managed to cycle all the way round Scotland, abit further than originally planned, worked out 1650 miles in 17 days in end.
I Will eventually get round to doing a blog of journey sometime, but was absolutely brilliant, best thing i've ever had privelege to be able to do.Amazing weather, usually sunny, and only 1.5 days in whole trip..not bad considering we went west!
Scenery spectacular, didn't realise Scotland was so good looking, borders and dumfreshire was rolly and green, arran was a real surprise, great little island, and all the way from Oban to Cape Wrath via mull and skye were definitely the best, we wouldn't need to go anywhere else for hols if there was no midges, absolutely stunning! Black Isles and all along to just before fraserburgh were all really good and totally different from west.
Had loads of people join me on way round, who also helped in raising loads for Yorkhill, they are in no particular order. Brett Duane, Justin Lynn, Doug Wilson, Keith Bedborough, Keith Cuthbert, Nick Johnson, Andrew Blaikie, Archie Gibson, Richard Lamotte, Chris Browning, Dave Harcourt, Stewart Robertson, Christopher Lamotte, Martin Booth, Scott Graham, Mike Rennie, Gavin McKinnon, Chris Sangster,Andy Hutchinson, and off course Jenny, Ewan and Andy.
Craic, was brilliiat and defintely made it alot easier to cycle,...even Blaikie's!
Some guys did one day, some did five or less, but big thanks to you all, especially Big Dave for making special effort to make it, Blaikie for sporting competition and thinking drafting meant being behind me all the time, grumpy for being Mr Bean, Keith b for retro cycle gear, being persuaded to come to cape wrath, and raising 3k plus himself for his own charity, Richard Lamotte for not dieing on route....i was worried this could happen, Mike Rennie for the most uncool dismount ever, Mr and Mrs Scott Browning, and Martin for staying with me on second last day..BIG THANKS TO YOU ALL AND HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT.
We have photos of the trip from various folk as we went round at www.photobucket.com ..LOG IN TO..username..cheekyrascals, password..robbie. Probably pretty boring for anyone that wasn't there, scenery is spectacular even from photos, and take a look if want to see some chunky folk in lycra, pretending to be fit cyclists!!
The ceilidh night was great to , about 150 folk came along to blyth hall , newport. Great band, loads of beer and stovies and good bunch of folk ..couldn't really fail to be a good night really. Had loads of generouse donations for silent auction event, to many to mention but big thanks to you all.
Definitely won't be doing anything for charityYorkhill for quite a while, i think i've hassled enough of friends and work for quite a while.
The money we have raised is already being used for buying tv's, dvds, computer ganes and equipment, laptops etc..anything at all that will help keep the kids happy while in hospital waiting on/recovering from operations and dialysis treatment. For anyone that has been to hospital, you'll know there is alot of sitting around bored, and so anything that can keep kids occupied and happier is a bonus, THANKS FROM YORKHILL TO YOU ALL FOR THIS HELP.
lastly, thanks to Jen for letting me do it, and putting up with my training and my attempts at trying to organise it and get money in from anywhere i could. After looking after the two kids this weekend, i definitely got the easy option of just having to cycle and look at good scenery and eat loads of good scottish food on way round, thanks missus xxxxx
cheers Robbie
