Story
Losing someone you love is never easy, but when dementia is part of their journey, grief takes on an added layer. You don’t just lose them once, you lose little pieces along the way, mourning the person they used to be.
We lost mum in June this year as a result of her Dementia, the Stroke she had in January and Kidney failure.
Mum started showing signs of Dementia in 2020 and got progressively worse the last two years of her life. Everyday life became very challenging for mum and it affects the whole family, physically and emotionally.
With mums Dementia, she became very quiet, confused at times, but always knew who we were right to the end ❤️
On the 4th October Daisy, Steve and Lucy, along with family and friends will be walking the 7K Dementia Walk at Hylands Park, Chelmsford to raise awareness of this cruel disease.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure. We know it is scary but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. We owe it to the 1 million people across the UK currently living with dementia to campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this.
Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer's Society you don't need to do anything and it's the most efficient way to fundraise. So, who will you walk for? #MemoryWalk
