WellBoring is an established volunteer-led charity, which drills, installs and provides the infrastructure for cost-effective wells at rural primary schools in Kenya. Each well costs £5,000 (or £4,000 plus gift aid), and provides safe water to pupils, teachers, and the wider community, for years.  

As part of the friendship link, which has existed between Cheltenham and Kisumu in Kenya since 1985, our aim is to fundraise towards a well at a primary school in Kisumu. Despite Kisumu's location on Lake Victoria, the second-largest freshwater lake in the world, access to water is not guaranteed.  The United Nations classifies Kenya as a water-scarce country. It suffers from a chronic water crisis due to droughts, forest degradation, floods, lack of proper water management strategies, water contamination and population growth.

Cheltenham has benefitted from access to water with its origins as a spa town, but many children and their families in rural Kisumu still do not have safe clean water. With your help, we can change this and empower lives.
