Story

Wake up and Get Red-day on Friday 18th May 2018 to help mend sepsis. Whether it’s a pair of red socks to bring a pop of awareness or an all-out crimson campaign we’re are all wearing red for the day!

Chemist-4-U.com's Warehouse Supervisor Luke Hanoman suffered from bloodstream sepsis in June 2017. Luke's sepsis was introduced into this bloodstream by a simple bite of his fingernail.

Luke spent 4-5 days in hospital on a IV antibiotic drip. His symptoms were hot & cold sweats, aching, flu like symptoms, rash that didn't fade when pressed, swollen glands and finger.

Sepsis is a rare but serious complication of an infection.

Without quick treatment, sepsis can lead to multiple organ failure and death. Luke thankfully made a speedy recovery thanks to his mum calling NHS 111 service and them making a quick A&E referral.

Unfortunately 44,000 people per year die in the UK and estimated at 6m people worldwide from Sepsis.

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
