Friends of Shoscombe School Association is the PTFA for Shoscombe Church School, based in the idyllic village of Shoscombe in the South West of England.

Story

At Shoscombe Primary, we ensure that our children access a range of outdoor learning opportunities, a variety of sports, cultural experiences such as theatre and museum trips, have access to specialists in The Arts, as well as offering links to schools in Europe. Central to our teaching is hands-on learning and well planned school visits that enhance and embed the learning the children receive in class.

Although we seek to find visits that are free or subsidised through grants, we still need to ask parents for voluntary contributions of around £20 per visit. These are always only ever voluntary contributions (by law) and we are increasingly finding families who simply cannot afford to pay, resulting in the school either cancelling the trip or finding funds from other sources to ensure the trip can go ahead.

We want to raise money to ensure that these visits and experiences can continue for all our children and enrich their education and life experiences as much as possible.

On 30th October 2022 we are  entering a team (of staff and parents)  in a 10km Mud Run Steeplechase fundraising event. It is all about climbs, crawls, water and mud! Our team will endeavour to climb over obstacles, crawl through tunnels, potentially dip into water and run and wade through mud pits ..... what a way to spend a Sunday!

Any support you are able to give is gratefully received and will ensure we are able to continue to give our children the best education we can.

Thank you
