Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page.
On Thursday 21st May 2020 I received the news my sisters fiance had committed suicide. Pete suffered with his mental health for many years and was diagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) a couple of years ago. My sister did everything in her power to support Pete come to terms with his diagnosis, encouraged him to seek help, which he did but the road to stability is not a smooth one.
My sister and Pete made a wonderful human together who is now 3years old. He is now without a dad because of this cruel taboo subject that people are not talking about enough!
Some think suicide is selfish and attention seeking. The reality is, a person suffering and seeing the hurt they cause around them want it to stop. They can't stop their own hurt and by freeing others of the pain they've inflicted becomes an ideal they can achieve and control.
There is so much we think we know about mental health yet may people suffer in silence or are in denial. We can't always know what someone is going through or how they feel but we can choose to be kinder, be more thoughtful and show empathy.
Pete was know as 'Friendly Pete' as this is how introduced himself to new people over the years. It was true. He was also fun, life of the party and Sensational whenever he was telling his stories and opinions. He wasn't the kind of person that blended in, if you ever met him you would never forget him.
So in honour of friendly Pete, I'm going to be shaving all my hair off, and there's a lot!!! A crazy amount!! So please share this and let's reach my target and get this head shaved!!!
