Story

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I have set myself two major cycling challenges, namely the classic Land's End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) tour and the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100. The first takes place between 8 and 23 June 2019 and involves cycling 1,000 miles with 50,000ft of ascent across 3 countries in 14 days during which time I'll be burning 3,000 calories per day. This just means I can eat a lot of chocolate and cake, I hope! With only a few weeks to go, of course I'm nervous but hopefully all the training will pay off and I'll make it to the famous John O'Groats signpost. Fingers crossed the weather is kind!

My second challenge is the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 on 4 August 2019. Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic Games, the ride starts in London and follows a 100 mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey's stunning countryside, passing very closely to where I live. With three major climbs and a route made famous by the world's best cyclists at the 2012 Olympics, it's a truly spectacular event finishing on the Mall in Central London. Having already completed this event in 2015 and 2016, I'm hoping it will be just as enjoyable and rain free!

Having supported larger, well known charities in the past, this year I have decided to fundraise for a small local charity which does amazing work helping young people, namely the Leatherhead Youth Project (LYP). LYP is passionate about offering innovative youth services in Leatherhead, Bookham and across Mole Valley which aim to respond to local needs and help young people to be safe, happy and making positive changes in their lives.

The charity offers a diverse range of projects which provide holistic and  long term support for children aged 11-19. Activities include the BFree Youth Café, counselling and mentoring, schools work, evening youth clubs, sports projects, international trips, outdoor expeditions and more.

Therefore, I ask you all to give generously and play a small part in raising funds that enable this fantastic charity to continue the vital work it does in supporting young people.

Many thanks for all your help. I really appreciate your support and thank you for your donations. I will let you know how I get on!
