Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I gave up running last summer after my marriage fell apart and I became a single parent, with no one to look after the kids it became an impossible task.
In the following months I struggled with grief, loss, self-blame, giving my self-esteem a good bashing, I subsequently suffered depression, anxiety and panic attacks. I have not been to work or barely left home since February. I started to feel a bit better a couple of weeks ago and inspired by Captain Tom, I decided to set myself a personal challenge to help repair by slightly battered mind and body.
As the kids are still at home and lockdown rules apply, my options were limited so I decided to run a marathon in 7 days, entirely running up and down the 100m stretch of the cul-de-sac in front of my house (its extremely boring, but a least it's flat!!) I think it's about 450 times! My marathon started on Monday 20 April and will complete on Sunday 26 April.
I had not planned to raise money, this was just a personal thing, but a couple of friends have asked to contribute so I decided why not!
I felt that a mental health charity was the only way to go and I know they will have a lot of people needing their services as people struggle to cope with the problems that a pandemic and lockdown will bring for many different reasons.
Thank you for reading, any donation, just a quid, will make a huge difference. Stay safe and look after your mental health peeps.
