Sally Bradley is raising money for St. Wilfrid’s Hospice (Chichester)
In memory of Daisy Strange
St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides tailored end of life care both in the community and at our Hospice, supporting our patients living with a terminal illness, and their family and friends. We rely on the generous support of our community to raise the £8million we need each year to fund our services.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The hockey club have been donated a set of green shirts from GSAM as a commemorative shirt in memory of Daisy Strange.  Daisy started her hockey career at Chichester Hockey Club, in the Canons, like most young girls.  It as quite clear however that she was heading for great things from her hockey.  Daisy left Chichester after progressing from the Canons to the Ladies 1st, and everyone watched with interest as her hockey career developed.  Her passion for hockey and her enthusiasm for the sport overflowed into her working life  as she became Head of Girls Sport at the prep school of Seaford College.  Sadly in the summer of 2019 she was diagnosed with a rare form of tongue cancer which Daisy fought with the same determination and dignity that she showed for everything, however on 11th April, during lockdown, sadly Daisy died.  The club had planned to have a memorial game, but lockdown stopped this, so these commemorative shirts are a constant reminder of Daisy.  Some of the girls in that original Canons team are still playing at Chichester, however Daisy's infectious personality touched so many other players within the club over the years.

The majority of the girls in Chichester Ladies 1st XI are a similar age to Daisy and we were all so very proud that when we wear the special shirts we know that it commemorates a girl, just like us all, who loved life and loved hockey.

Adrian and Jack are still active members of the hockey club and Diana is regularly on the sideline supporting.  If Daisy has touched your life in anyway and you would like to support the local hospice that supported Daisy in the last days of our life, please feel free to donate.
