Story
Hello and Welcome! Thank you for entering our JustGiving page. We are six students from the University of Bath aiming to raise money and awareness for Childhood Day in aid of NSPCC.
Abuse and neglect ruins childhood and now more than ever, children in the UK are struggling to have the education and protection they need as a result of the pandemic. As postgraduate students ourselves, we know the challenge of not being able to go to school, learn what we love, and experience the great joy of interacting with friends and peers. For many children, the uncertainty and worry from the pandemic has taken a toll on their mental health, while others have felt trapped in unsafe homes – out of sight and cut off from their usual support networks. Together, we can make this a better year for children.
NSPCC is running a national Childhood Day which needs our attention.
Childhood Day is the ultimate charity day that brings people together across the country to celebrate childhood through play, raise millions of pounds and strengthen our social safety net to keep children safe. Childhood Day takes place on the second Friday of June each year – this year 11th June. Play is a vital part of childhood, and after the year we’ve all had, everyone could do with a bit more play. It doesn’t matter how you play this Childhood Day; it just matters that you play your part.
At NSPCC it costs £4 for one trained volunteer counsellors to answer a child's call for help to Childline. £30,000 could pay to run Childline for one day. We wish to ensure every child has the childhood and support they deserve, so please join us!
