The Kiki Child Of Hope Campaign · 25 December 2014

Bridge of Hope Foundation is a UK registered charity, created to enable increased access to education for young people across developing countries. The charity works in India, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda Zimbabwe and Egypt to sponsor the education of children and young adults.

Story

When Kiki Joachim was pulled from the rubble of the Haiti earthquake five years ago he became known as the Child Of Hope.

His life was saved when he ducked under his school desk but he lay trapped under the rubble for an agonising seven days, next to the body of his four year old brother Titite who was killed instantly.

The moment Kiki was rescued it was captured on camera, leading him to become a beacon of hope for Haiti.

But five years on, his family were no longer able to afford to send him and his surviving brother David to school, as the island continues to struggle in the aftermath.

As soon as we, at The Bridge of Hope were told about Kiki and David's plight we knew we had to step in.

The Bridge Of Hope currently funds school and university places for over 40 children around the world, including children from Tibet, Ethiopia, Uganda, the Gambia, Kenya and now Haiti.

For many children, like Kiki, access for formal education is a privilege, not a right.

Please help us to help them. We're asking 1,000 well-wishers from around the world to donate £10, or whatever they can afford. Every penny will make a massive difference. To give you an idea how: £50 can fund a term at school, £10 a uniform, bag and school kit and £5 school text books, pens and other equipment for a term.

As Kiki says: “Please help. I used to love going to school because my dream is to become an engineer and earn money to help my family one day.”

Please donate whatever you can to our £10,000 appeal for children across the world. For more information about how you can help Kiki and other children have an education please email: info@bridge-hope.org
