Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

As you may or may not know, every year there is a major event that takes place in London . It happens around April. It lasts for a good few hours in the day and thousands of people take part in it…

Yes, it is the London Marathon, and yes I’m doing it!

I am taking part in the event and I’m trying to raise money for the Stroke Association.

I am running for the charity because I think it’s a worthy cause, the association do amazing work, and give support to sufferers all over the .

My father suffered from a minor stroke last year; thankfully it was not as bad as it could have been. And with the help and support of the Association and family he is much better.

Most people have witnessed stroke. A Parent, partner, family member or friend and the condition it leaves the sufferer in.

Stroke is the third biggest killer and leading cause of severe disability in the . 250,000 people live disability cause by stroke in the UK .

Around 150,000 people in the UK  have a stroke every year – that’s one every three minutes – most people affected are over 65 but anyone can have a stroke including children and babies.

Almost one in four men and one in five women aged 45 can expect to have a stroke if they live to 85.

But

For every £50 spent on cancer research and £20 spent on heart disease research only £1, just ONE pound is spent on stroke research!

So please give your support.

The Stroke Association, medical Charity of the year 2005 as voted by the

Association of Medical Journalists.
The Stroke Association is the only national charity concerned with helping everyone affected by stroke.
The Stroke association’s main focus is to prevent stroke and to give support to stroke people and their families.
So please give generously.
