Story
Hi Friends,
As the Strava-savvy among you may have noticed, Fred and I have been training for the best part of the year with the hope of surviving one of Ironman’s infamous ultra-distance triathlons this year in Spain. After a lot of reshuffled event dates, alternative races and some turbulent lockdown training, for obvious reasons the event has now sadly been cancelled :(
Despite being a golden opportunity to subtly duck out we’re frankly not that smart and instead we’ve decided to put all that positive energy and training to good use and host our own event in aid of Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, an incredible charity that Fred’s family have supported for many years... CH’IRONMAN (the pun-ability of the event title was also an incentive) will take place in Chichester, West Sussex on Saturday 17th October 2020.
We're also thrilled to have a whole host of legends joining us out on the course to complete their challenge on the day too. So far we have around 20 athletes taking part in various distances from Half Marathon to Full Ironman so this is very much a collective effort!
What is an Ironman?
The Ironman Triathlon covers a total of 140 miles (226 km), consisting of a 2.4 mile (3.8 km) swim, a 112 mile (180.2 km) bike ride and a marathon 26.2 mile (42.20 km) run.
What is Chestnut Tree House?
The Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice is based in Sussex - they currently care for 300 life-limited children, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes. Their goal is to provide the best quality of life for children, young people and their families, and to offer practical, social and spiritual support throughout each child’s life, however short it may be.
Any contribution you can make to support the amazing work at Chestnut Tree House would be so hugely appreciated.
Big love,
George & Fred x
