Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may know, through my job at Welsh Assembly Government, I spent Feb to April 2010 volunteering in Zambia.  Seeing first hand, the levels of poverty had a major impact on me.

I returned with a burning desire to help in whatever way possible....

THANKFULLY, Cardiff based Teacher Aid have come to the rescue..!! (full details at www.teacheraid.org.uk)

I made a 'Dragons Den' type pitch to their comittee asking for their help in a special project to BUILD A SCHOOL from scratch.  The children of Chiziro village have to make the gruelling 5 mile walk, through treacherous terrain just to get to school each day.  When the rains come (Nov to Mar), the footpaths wash away making the journey impossible!!

Chirizo village is high in the hills with over 200 families living in traditional 'mudbrick' thatched homes - they have neither running water, electricity or effective sanitation.

With the support of Teacher Aid, building a school, in the village and financing a teacher will bring improve the life of every villager.

If you can help, even in small way, PLEASE do.

THANK -YOU!

Tina
