Joining Jack has the ultimate aim of finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, one of the most common fatal genetic conditions in the world. Recent scientific breakthroughs mean that the development of a treatment is closer than ever, and this will not only help Jack but all sufferers of DMD.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.I am doing a tandem skydive in August 2016 to raise money for Joining Jack. Joining Jack is a charity that supports Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) which is a muscle wasting disease which mostly affects boys, but can affect girls too. This is a life threatening disease and most children are confined to a wheelchair by the age of 12 years old. Eventually this progresses to complete paralysis and increasing difficulty in breathing. Life expectancy is very short, usually before the age of 30.I have chosen to fundraise for this charity because of a special little boy. His name is Sam and he is 9 years old. When he was 3 years old, Sam's family received the devastating news that their little boy had this debilitating disease. Their world was turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) means that Sam cannot do some of the things that we all take for granted every single day. Running, jumping, climbing stairs, and even the simple task of sitting down and then standing back up again are sometimes a challenge for Sam and all of the other children that have DMD. Currently there is no known cure for this disease, so fundraising for research is vital. Thank you in advance for your donations. They will make a difference.
