Story
So I decided to set myself a little challenge for the month of June. I am going to swim 30 km and walk 300,000 steps to raise money for one of the wonderful charities that helped a very special family to me.
Poppy & Daisy were born at 28 weeks and 5 days. Extremely premature but had some fantastic nurses supporting them at the Basildon Hospital NICU ward. Tragically, after 18 short days Poppy gained her angel wings and Daisy was then transferred to Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge where she spent 5 weeks undergoing invasive procedures between various hospitals. I am pleased to say Daisy is now 8 months old and is doing brilliantly at home with her family.
I am in awe of how strong Lauren and John have been throughout this time. They have made it their mission to raise money and awareness for the charities that helped them so that they can provide care and support for all the families that need them. So far, the amazing Poppy’s People team have raised over £3,000 for Basildon NICU, over £6,500 for the Acute Neonatal Transfer Service (ANTS) and a group of 7 wonder women will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge later this year!
So I thought I would pull out my goggles and trainers to try and raise some funds for the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust that provided care and on-site accommodation for the Hatfull’s when they needed it most.
I have been getting the swims in this month, trying to prepare my body for the aches & A LOT more hair washing than I am used to… Any donation towards this amazing cause or sharing of this page really would mean the world.
Thanks all & wish me luck!
