Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m 25 years old & have been living with Psoriasis for 15 years. Red & dry patches started to appear on my scalp first and then soon spread to the whole of my body. It took a while but I was then diagnosed with Plaque Psoriasis.

My parents took me to numerous appointments with different dermatologists who prescribed creams, lotions & ointments. The creams weren’t strong enough and I then went on to try UV light treatment, tablet medication & injections. I’ve always been willing to try anything which would help living with this condition a little more bearable. Personally I’ve found that around 3 years of being on a treatment which suits me, my body becomes immune & the affects stop working and I’m back to square one.

15 years on, I’ve had one of my biggest flare ups which has been the biggest challenge & most painful throughout my journey. Along side this, I now suffer with psoriasis arthritis and am trialing a new injection.

I feel there isn’t enough awareness about this condition & the rollercoaster of emotions which come alongside it. It’s something that’s not just affected me physically but also mentally. Hearing other people’s stories helps make me realise I’m not alone. My dad also suffers with Psoriasis and I’m so grateful for him & my brother supporting me on this 50km walk to raise awareness for something which means a lot to me. I’d also like to thank my friends and family who have always given me the support along the way.

Awareness is key, educating people is key & being happy is key.
