SafeNet Domestic Abuse Service has saved over 5,000 women and children since its refuge was opened in 1976. It runs the largest refuge in Lancashire; delivers community based services; supports phone helpline; enabling women to make informed choices, empowering them to live free from Domestic Abuse.

Story

I’ve decided to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Safenet. They’re a domestic abuse charity who, last summer, provided support to a member of my family and helped to end a thirty year cycle of abuse.

The compassion, care and understanding they gave was truly invaluable and so I want to give back in a small way by raising some money so they can continue their excellent work.

Seen as I hate running (anyone who’s done even five minutes running with me will have heard the phrase ‘I hate running’ at least ten times), I thought what better challenge than to make myself run a half marathon. I’ll also be running two 10ks later on the year and I also promise not to unbook a single CrossFit class in 2024 because it has running in it.

Any support you can offer is much appreciated. Cheers x
