On 11/09/19 we lost the backbone to the Sargent family. My Grandad passed away from IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). Its a lung condition that scars your lungs and reduces the efficiency of your breathing. IPF is a progressive condition and usually gets worse over time. At present, the scar tissue cannot be repaired by the body or any drugs, so there is no cure yet for IPF and I want to help change that.
Grandads difficulty to breath led him to struggle with the simplist of tasks. It was heartbreaking seeing the man who used to carry me on his shoulders not even be able to stand up without needing some help. He truly was my superhero and my whole world . Grandad made me learn not to take my health for granted, therefore on the 15th of March I am going to run the Brentwood half marathon in honour of him.
