Story
My lovely mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 7 years ago. I started noticing early signs when she was only 61. She's now 71 and needs help with pretty much everything, from getting dressed to even making a cup of tea. It's a devastating disease, which steals their personality and their purpose. The disease is now at epidemic levels and affects so many people and their families.
I've been looking for an event I could do for a while to help raise money for dementia and Alzheimers. And walking a marathon for the Alzheimer’s Society seemed like the ideal event. Although I've never walked 26 miles in one go before!!
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
