Chris's London To Paris

London To Paris · 15 June 2018
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I feel a bit of a fraud doing a charity bicycle from London to Paris when I’m a massive cycling fan and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Raising money for charity always conjures up images of sitting in a bath of beans or shaving your head, doing something that is hard or unpleasant not something you enjoy.
I was asked to do this ride by a friend of mine Andrew Edmondson, who had a heart attack back in July 2017, he is now all fit and healthy thanks to the speedy action taken by the Derby Royal’s A&E Department.
My best friend’s father Steve Chaplin passed away close to 2 years ago from sepsis, a massive shock and so sad to lose a legend of this world. Again, The Derby Royal were great with Steve and his family in their time of need.
Finally, my own parents, there is not a week that goes by without them having an appointment at the Derby Royal. If it isn't hip, knee or shoulder replacements, it's Cancer treatment and/or check-ups, Cellulitis check-ups (or scares)! They have both been though it and keep going, they are both a massive inspiration to me and I am so proud of them.
The press focuses so much on waiting times, availability of beds etc but when you walk through those hospital doors, you place your health and complete trust in the doctors and nurses that work there. Never do you doubt their ability, compassion, and desire to fight for your health.
So on behalf of myself and all the important people in my life that have and continue to be treated so well by the Hospital. For all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff that work there and form a vital part of a service that tirelessly works for our needs, I would like to raise some money to give them something back and show my support and thanks for what they do.
