Like everybody else who knew him, I was shocked by Jimmy Brown's sudden, tragic death. There is nothing else I can add to the wonderful tributes that have already been made about Jimmy.

I cannot pretend to know the sadness that Sally and the children are going through.

The only thing I felt I could do as a tribute to Jimmy, was to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation by attempting to run my second full marathon within a month. I know it won't be easy, and I guess I won't find out how well I've recovered from the first one until I get to the final 10 miles, but I will do my best.

If I need any more motivation, I only have to remember that I lost my dad 15 years ago in similar circumstances and was robbed of a grandfather before I was born because of the effects of heart disease.
