WAY offers a peer-to-peer support to anyone whose partner died when they were aged 50 or under, married or not, with or without children, inclusive of sexual orientation, gender, race and religion.

Story

WAY helped me following my wife, Elaine's death in 2011 and I now volunteer for it as I can see how it helps others (people from all orientation relationships types, married and non married who have lost their partner when they were younger than 51).

COVID has unfortunately led to its member numbers rising significantly over the last few years.

I was also involved in the same accident as Elaine in September 2011 when we were both hit by a car in Northern Scotland when returning from a holiday on the Orkney Islands to celebrate our first anniversary. I spend more than 7 months in hospital and upon discharge I found I couldn't balance a two wheel bike. I did a challenge ride with friends on a 3 wheeled bike in September 2011. Since then I've re-mastered a 2 wheeled (normal) bike and done a couple of long distance routes.

Since #lockddown_2020 I've got into the habit of leaving the house to doing my 'daily exercise' on local roads / tracks.

The route for the ride has just been published (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38539436) and from the assent that states I make it 20m more than the height of Snowdon!
