Story

Those of you who don't know, I was diagnosed with myeloma in 2007, aged 48. Eight years on from autologous stem cell replacement therapy that followed a year of chemotherapy,  I feel blessed to lead a full adventurous life. Cycling is a special part of my well-being and lifestyle. This cycle ride seemed a too good an opportunity to miss to join up and fulfil a crazy ambition to cycle up to the Arc de Triomphe. The money you will give will help keep research going that helped me with my treatment all those years ago.  The Hong Kong doctors referred me internationally as well as locally.  Not only that, Myeloma UK also supports the well-being of patients friends and relatives.  This is as important as medicine.  With modern lifestyles,  you never know when you will have a 'bombshell' dropped.  I will never forget those early days of friends and colleagues. Organisations like this one are there for all of us.

I have been overwhelmed by the messages and the generosity towards this good cause and helping me give back to others less fortunate than I am or you are.  I have now chosen £8888.88 as my final target - as all those in China and HK know - 8 is a very auspicious number.
