Talent and interest are spread equally across society, but opportunity is not. Socio-economic background, gender, and ethnicity all influence how likely young people are to choose and thrive in STEM. EDT is working towards a fairer society where all young people can develop the skills to succeed.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Chris' JustGiving page.

A state school child whose teachers did him proud, Chris quietly achieved a first class degree in Physics from Imperial College and later a PhD with the Energy Research Group in Cambridge.

He spent the bulk of his career with Shell, including three very happy years in Australia where a longstanding love of horses emerged.  Quite late in life, he took the opportunity to transfer to teaching and brought great enthusiasm and humour to it.  He wanted to impart a liking and understanding of science and in particular to encourage people towards it.  EDT offers a well-matched opportunity to follow through.

Donations in Chris’s name will be channeled towards something as appropriate as possible to Chris’s own ideas.
