Welcome to my #TeamWag Great North Run 2019 JustGivingpage!

Wag & Company is the only visiting dog charity to visit the elderly in their own homes as well as in care or medical establishments. The aim is to reduce loneliness in older dog lovers right across the North East of England and to ensure that no older person misses friendship and the company of a dog.

I will be helping to achieve this when I take part in the Great North Run 2019 as part of #TeamWag raising the funds to enable more and more friends with two and with four legs for our elderly dog loving neighbours.

Many older people have difficulty getting about, they can’t look after a dog of their own any more, some have no family or friends at all and may not see anyone from one week to the next.  Wag volunteers make a real difference to the way they feel about their lives and ultimately to their health and wellbeing.

Since Wag started in 2016, Visiting Wag Teams have made more than 33,000 friend visits benefitting over 1,800 people across the North East.  Today there are over 250 Visiting Wag Teams and many more are needed, all the time.
