Story
INTRODUCTION:
Allied forces foundation (AFF) is a British-American foundation that works to raise awareness and support for wounded service personnel, veterans and their families, particularly those affected by the conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan.
A primary focus of AFF is to reinvigorate the spirit of comradeship and teamwork that so many wounded, ill and injured (WII) serving and veterans miss when forced to return to a desk job or civilian life. This is achieved through enabling participation in different challenges, both in the US and UK, including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, and the Cateran Yomp in Scotland. These challenges deliver an opportunity for WII to come together with other military and former military who are facing similar experiences.
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the AFF MCM event is to bring together wounded warrior teams from the allied nations to take part in the Marine Corps Marathon, meet fellow WII and visit the US capital city. Participants compete in an endurance event in order to renew self-confidence, re-establish self-esteem aswell as it is providing a focus for recovery and rehabilitation.
MCM 2019 will be on October 27, 2019 in Washington D.C and North Virginia.
