Youth Federation works across Cheshire, Halton, Warrington and Wirral to help disadvantaged young people achieve their potential through direct delivery youth work, alternative education and working with the voluntary sector to the frontline of community youth work.

Story

Since leaving school I have worked hard in my on-going attempts to avoid any rapid movement, so it is with much surprise that I find myself training for a series of gruelling challenges! On the 16th of May I completed the Great Manchester Run. This demanding 10 kilometre race around Manchester's landmarks was hard work, but great fun!

My next challenge is the Liverpool 10k Tunnel Run which takes place on the 30th of May. After that I will be turning my attention to the Warrington half marathon which I hope to run with my brother.

I am running in support of the Youth Federation of Cheshire, Halton, Warrington and Wirral. Created in 1952 the Charity focuses on maximising disadvantaged young people's access to youth work to improve and enrich their lives. The staff dedicate their time to young people in the following ways;

* Delivering youth work directly to the most disadvantaged children and young people in our areas

* Creating opportunities for young people to become volunteers

* Providing training for young people and members of the local community

* Supporting voluntary and community youth groups so that they improve their practices and procedures

* Providing practical support to voluntary and community youth groups across a range of services

If I can raise £25 this will provide a days training for a young person allowing them to develop accredited skills which will better prepare them for the future.

£100 will provide the funds to send 2 young people on an educational visit, including the hire of a minibus, entrance fee and lunch.

If I raise £250 this will fund the cost of recruiting and training a young person to undertake a full volunteer placement. Not only will the young person gain valuable skills and experiences, but the placement will benefit from their attendance.
