London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the year I turned 40 I have set myself the challenge of getting my trainers out and running the London Marathon in aid of the fantastic work done by Alzheimer's Research UK, the UK's leading dementia charity.
Unfortunately, it’s now very common to know people living with dementia or who have been impacted by it in the past and the issue continues to grow,
Globally, the number of people living with dementia will increase from 50m in 2018 to 152m in 2050, a 204% increase.
The cost of dementia in the UK is expected to more than double in the next 25 years, from £26bn to £55bn in 2040.
25% of hospital beds are occupied by people living with dementia who are over 65
23% of people identified dementia as a cause of brain disease or degeneration and 46% identified it as loss of memory.
While the challenges are big, we can help to make great progress and one day an answer will be found. Any donations will be a huge help, so I ask everyone to dig deep to support this great cause.
