I was lucky enough to land a place in the 2016 London Marathon. It's not a charity place, I just felt it would be good to use the experience to help raise a bit of helpful cash for a very worthy charity. As an animal lover and owner of two dogs, I find it staggering that so many people abandon their pets. The poor dog does not choose this outcome. I am always impressed at the work carried out by the Dogs Trust. Each year some 16,000 pet dogs are cared for and they never put a healthy dog down. They work tirelessly to rehome many abandoned pets.

Financially, as times have been hard of late, charities are clamouring for more funding and it is often animal charities that get overlooked. Added to the fact that difficult economic circumstances vastly increase abandonments, the charity suffers a double whammy - less funding and increased costs.
