We work with volunteers in communities to help people access the basics they need

Story

As the founders of The Hygiene Bank Hastings, we want to do something special this Christmas.

We want to raise £500, which will allow us to support even more people in 2022. It will help us to provide vital hygiene products to men, women and children, in and around Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea, who may be feeling the effects of hygiene poverty.

In doing so, we can help give people the products – and the confidence – they need to start the new year on a positive note.

Says Amy Thompson, Partnership Manager at The Hygiene Bank: "Hastings has been a model project, supporting their local community by distributing over 4.2 tonnes of personal and household hygiene products and supporting more than 16 local community groups [...]

"We are unbelievably proud of our Hastings Grassroots team and cannot express our gratitude enough for the impact they make on their community."

About The Hygiene Bank

The Hygiene Bank has grown from a belief that basic hygiene is not a privilege. It’s not right that feeling clean should be a luxury for anyone in our society, yet many of us are living in poverty. Grounded in the community, our local projects work with a range of community partners to identify and respond to the direct needs of those of us experiencing hygiene poverty and struggling to keep clean, through collecting and distributing donated products. In 2020, we distributed over 363,000 kg of products to communities across the UK.

Everyone deserves to feel clean, yet millions of people in the UK today are going without the hygiene basics - such as shower gel, toothpaste and deodorant - that so many of us take for granted. With your support, we will reach more of those who are disproportionately affected by hygiene poverty.
