Story

So it's that time of year when I can't wait to challenge myself by getting the shoes and socks off and facing the Firewalk flames for Pilgrims Hospice . . . yes, that's my actual feet up there in the picture!

This might be fifth time around but I'm never complacent about the enormity of what I'm about to face . . . either in terms of standing at the edge of the runway and being told that the coals are burning at around 800 degrees (always a very sobering moment!), or more importantly why I'm doing this, and what it means to those who need the invaluable services that Pilgrims Hospice provides.

I absolutely believe that holistic support for the medical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of people facing life-limiting conditions, and their families, carers and friends, are an absolute necessity, and Pilgrims Hospice makes these things possible. But without support from local communities these invaluable services wouldn't survive, so if we want them to continue we have to do something about it . . . and that's where you and I can help to make a real difference.

I hope after visiting my page and reading my story that you'll want to help me support the amazing work that Pilgrims does in our community by sponsoring my Firewalk to help raise much needed funds. Every penny you donate, no matter how big or small, really does make an enormous difference at possibly the most harrowing and difficult time in someone's life. However if my story has inspired you to challenge yourself to a firewalk too, then it's not too late to register and take part. Just head to Pilgrims Hospice website for more details . . . life really is too short for all of us, so what are you waiting for?
