Story
I'm running the Bradford Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October.
As an added motivator to my training I am running to raise some money, but most importantly awareness of Parkinson’s.
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. One person in every 500 has Parkinson's. That's about 120,000 people in the UK.
My dad (Graham) had Parkinson’s for around 10 years. Whilst it didn’t end his life, it hugely affected his quality of life. Parkinson’s affected his mobility hugely, as well as other more recognisable symptoms like the uncontrollable shakes. This meant he was unable to dial or hold a telephone to speak to his grandchildren.
There are a huge number of good causes out there and some very generous people. I would ask if you are willing and able to sponsor me to pledge NO MORE than £5.00 each and this will be passed on to Parkinson’s UK. It would be fantastic to raise some money, but again most importantly awareness of Parkinson’s.
As an added incentive, I will have a GPS tracker on me and will provide details of the website that can pinpoint me live. Anyone who wants to see how eye wateringly quick, or painfully slow I am going around the course will be able to do so live, whilst tucking into their cornflakes/full English on Sunday morning.
Many thanks,
Chris
